Corby Borough Council and Jewson Ltd are working together in an innovative new partnership to provide building materials for the Council's Trades team.
As Jewson Ltd successfully secured involvement in the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Framework for Building material supplies, the Council was able to secure national terms of contract with them.
This means the Council doesn't have to go through a prolonged tendering exercise, which would cost officer time and money. The Council will also benefit from reduced administration through consolidated invoicing, and improved pricing due to the aggregation of suppliers.
Corby Borough Council spends around £400k per year on ad-hoc repairs and maintenance to its housing stock, so it has negotiated special terms which will continue to deliver improvements to the quality of service and investment into the local economy. For those materials that Jewson Ltd doesn't normally stock, arrangements have been made to ensure they will use the local suppliers.
Jewson are also investing in a dedicated manned counter for the Council, to ensure swift service for the Council tradesmen, as well as a dedicated store for products the council uses on a regular basis. With the adoption of the single point of contact, the amount of paperwork incurred by the Council will also be reduced.
Cllr Bob Eyles – Lead Member for Housing, said "This is good news for the Council – we're delighted to be working with a company like Jewsons. We hope this partnership will not only give value for money for the Council, but save time and hassle for our tradesmen, and help them to deliver an even better service for our tenants and residents."
