Launch of new social exclusion plan

The latest National Plan on Social Exclusion is due to be launched in Liverpool later today by Anne McGuire, the minister for disabled people.
It will be the fourth National Action Plan (NAP) on social exclusion and follows Working Together, which ran from 2006.
The NAP will set out further moves across various agencies to tackle social exclusion over the next two years in an attempt to "make a decisive impact on poverty".
The previous NAP had three parts:
The key challenges to be addressed in relation to the economic situation, child poverty, access to employment, access to quality services, and discrimination;
Key policy areas to target the goals;
Working with organisations outside government in the design and delivery of the policies.
The emphasis over the past two years was the range of those involved, from devolved administrations, central and local government to the voluntary and community sector.
