The umbrella body for England's passenger transport executives has appointed a new director.
Jonathan Bray will take up the helm of the Passenger Transport Executive Group (pteg) Support Unit at the end of November when current director Tim Larner steps down.
Mr Bray is currently the assistant director of the unit, which acts as an umbrella body for the executives, which are responsible for overseeing public transport in the big metropolitan areas outside London like Liverpool and Manchester.
Jonathan Bray said: "The first five years of the pteg Support Unit was about raising the profile, cohesiveness and effectiveness of pteg.
"Now that we are punching our weight, the next few years is about making the most of the huge opportunities opened up by the Local Transport Bill to ensure that the passenger transport executives and independent transport authorities (ITAs) can become the more fully empowered strategic transport authorities that our increasingly dynamic city regions will need.'
Under the Bill, the existing passenger transport authorities are being replaced by the new ITAs, which will have a broader remit.
