Haringey announces new chief executive
Barnet LBC chief Nick Walkley is to take the helm at Haringey LBC.
The appointment follows the departure of Kevin Compton, who left Haringey in June. A joint statement from Mr Crompton and Haringey leader Claire Kober (Lab) said that the council “could benefit from a chief executive with different skills and personal horizons”.
Mr Walkley informed staff at Barnet of his departure by email this afternoon and Haringey confirmed the appointment.
Cllr Kober said: “I’m delighted that Nick will be joining Haringey at what is an important time. We are ambitious about the future of our borough and I’m confident that Nick will play a pivotal role in ensuring Haringey become one of the best places to live and work in London.”
Mr Walkley added: “I am hugely excited by the opportunity to take up this role with Haringey Council and I am committed to working with all councillors to address the many challenges facing local government. “
The appointment is subject to ratification by full council, which will meet on Tuesday, October 16.
