How the network will work...
The LGC Future Leaders Network, in association with BT, aims to help nurture, celebrate and connect local government’s up-and-coming talent and support their journey to the top
Nominations
We will be working with a host of professional associations and bodies - from the Public Sector People Managers’ Association to the Association of Local Authority Treasurers - to identify people from the whole range of local government disciplines at assistant director or similar level.
We are working with partners to ensure a diverse selection of grassroots nominations.
Regional networks
LGC will group Future Leaders by region and help them to establish a network and organise an inaugural session, providing support and speakers from the LGC 50 list of the most influential people in local government.
This will offer an opportunity to meet peers from other disciplines, hear from high-profile speakers and discuss their vision for the future of the sector. The groups will be encouraged to continue meeting.

Specialist networks
LGC will also establish a virtual network online for each professional discipline so that Future Leaders can network with peers across the country working in the same specialism.
Summit
Early next year, all of our Future Leaders will be invited to attend a nationwide summit and reception with influential figures from local government.
Progress
LGC will report on this class of 2011 throughout the rest of the year.
Benefits
Future Leaders will receive LGC and access to LGCplus.com to help them as they progress.
Partners are also encouraged to support Future Leaders in a variety of ways, such as offering speakers or providing space to meet at their annual conference.
