Mediawatch - Food for thought: from burgers to big mouths
Local government gets blamed for lots of things – mostly by its own Whitehall department. But in the spirit of the zaniest backbench councillor, the chief executive of Iceland frozen food has gone too far. This week he suggested the horsemeat scandal is “a storm in a tea cup”, and that local government has created the crisis by driving down prices for “school and hospital” food and buying from dodgy “backstreet” manufacturers.
