Comment on: Trio revert to committees, with more to follow
The imposition of the cabinet system on the vast majority of councils, was always a retrograde step when it comes to local democracy. Under the committee system, all members of the committee were brought up to speed at the same time, instead of constantly need to play catch-up.

Comment on: Crisis leads to council tax referendum call
This is the sort of insanity we have been gifted by Eric Pickles. A council needing to consider spending £100k because they won't have enough money to run their council!

Comment on: UPDATED: LGA makes £3.3m cuts
Eric Piffles must be rubbing his hands with glee and anticipation, as his master for local government domination, followed by annihilation continue to bear fruit. Having slapped us around at every opportunity on the front line, he is now we ensuring that the one vehicle offering a common, but arguably increasingly impotent, voice at the national level, is undermined. Divide and conquer, nearly always achieves the aggressors ambitions.

Comment on: Exclusive: East Midlands LEP merger discussed
Add a dash of Lincolnshire to the mix and, surprise, surprise, we'll be back to something that looks very similar to the East Midland Region with its own economic development strategy! Comment on: Ukip councillors will be 'independents on steroids'
Councillors on drugs - just what we need! No doubt it will make for some interesting and amusing debates in chambers up and down the country, which is okay as long as it doesn't drag things out even further, in what can already sometimes be rather long and tedious debates. It's good to know that no energy is going,to be wasted attempting to herd all these UKIP cats. We all know how difficult it is to gather together domesticated felines, let alone when they are as feral (parochial), as this herd seems so determined to be!
