David Roots, Managing Director, Health & Social Care
After starting his career in banking and accountancy, David Roots joined Olivetti in 1980 to sell specialist systems to the accountancy and legal professions and became the company’s Marketing Manager for the Accountancy Profession in 1983.
In 1984, David joined ex-Olivetti colleagues forming Multisoft, of which he ultimately became the managing director, and helped to establish it as one of the UK’s leading accounting software houses prior to it being acquired in 1989.
In 1990, David established Systems Authority to develop systems for Local Government direct labour organisations, a business bought in late 1993 by Context. In 1997, when Context bought Excelsis, David became managing director of the combined social housing business.
When Comino merged Context and ISE in 2000, David again led the integration programme and assumed responsibility for developing and driving Comino’s local government business division. 18 months later, Saffron was absorbed into its operations. Over a four year period, Comino became a leading supplier of e-government solutions to local authorities.
In 2004, Comino integrated its business divisions into a single operational unit and David was appointed Managing Director. David retained this position when Comino was acquired by Civica in 2006 and was appointed Managing Director for Civica’s combined Local Government businesses in 2007.
