CHAR, the charity for the single homeless, is estimating that 1.5 million households face increased poverty and the threat of homelessness as a result of changes to housing benefit, says an article in The Guardian (Society p7).

The analysis examines the possible effects now that housing benefit will no longer have to cover the full cost of market rents.

-- Opportunity, choice and housing benefit: a system in conflict, costs £3.50 from CHAR, 5-15 Cromer St, London WC1H 8LS.
