Total motor traffic in the second quarter of 1994 was 5% higher than in the corresponding quarter of 1993, according to provisional figures issued by the Department of Transport.

The increase is accounted for by rises of 5% in car traffic and 8% for goods vehicle traffic.

After seasonal adjustment total motor traffic in the second quarter of 1994 increased from the first quarter level, continuing the upward trend observed throughout 1993.

Total motorway traffic was 1% higher in the second quarter of 1994 compared to the second quarter of 1993. Traffic on trunk roads and principal roads showed a 5% rise over the same period. The traffic level on other roads increased by 6% compared to the low level a year earlier.
