Figures, which take account of the introduction of nursery vouchers from 1 April 1997, showed that among the most dramatic increases were those for Hackney LEA:

Liverpool LEA:

1996-97 Adjusted SSA£202.685m

Wirral LEA:

1996-97 Adjusted SSA£128.277m

1997-98 SSA£129.871m; and

1996-97 Adjusted SSA£180.572m

1997-98 SSA£187.933m.
