Millennium computer bugs could cost Welsh local authorities a total of up to£20m to solve, reports The Western Mail (p3).

Steve Dunster, head of finance at the Welsh Local Government Association, said he was surprised the figure was not higher.

'We are concerned about the effect on local authority expenditure, although the exact amount has yet to be totalled.

'I would see tackling this as a high priority when it comes to allocating expenditure.'

Mr Dunster said the WLGA would be considering whether to ask the government to foot the bill.
