Of all council tax liable properties in the Borders collection authority area, 5.1% still have bandings proposals or appeals to be dealt with, according to Scottish minister for local government Allan Stewart (WA, 5 July, col142).

The April 1 figures show that there are 16,894 appeals or proposals for banding outstanding out of the 937,092 council tax liable properties in the Strathclyde collection area, representing a better-than-average percentage of 1.8%.

The mean across Scotland is 2.2%.
