Aberdeen DC have been ordered to pay £10,000 compensation to one of its former housing officials, the Herald reports (p9).

Raymond Davidson was made redundant from his post as chief housing management officer last year and a new post of housing officer was created.

A tribunal found that Mr Davidson was sacked unfairly and criticised council chiefs for taking an 'entrenched and legalistic position, taking points of procedure rather than substance.'

Raymond Davidson was awarded a total of £11,497 which was reduced to the statutory maximum of £10,000 applicable at the time of dismissal.
