The Labour Party's Appleby Inquiry into the actions of Lambeth LBC is due for release in the next 'few weeks', Labour local government spokesman Frank Dobson told the Association of County Councils conference today.
Mr Dobson told delegates he was determined to root out any wrong-doings in the party ranks because they affected the whole of local government.
'I'm only sorry government ministers cannot bring themselves to condemn what happened in Westminster', he said.
Labour council members everywhere were being tarred with the brush of Lambeth, said Mr Dobson.
'Everyone is diminished by wrong-doing and incompetence in any council because every shortcoming is used by the enemies of local government to take yet more services out of the hands of the elected and put them in the charge of other people,' Mr Dobson said.
