All 150 'Quality Protects' management action plans for children's services have been approved.

The plans set out how councils will improve management and delivery of children's social services in line with the Quality Protects initiative, a three-year programme launched in September. Those participating will each receive a share of the£375 million grant supporting the initiative.

Health minister John Hutton said: 'Management action plans are an essential part of our modernisation programme to better protect children living away from home. I will be taking a close interest in the progress local authorities are making.'

A key part of the acceptability of the plans was co-operation between social services, education, health services and the voluntary sector.
