Government action to curb alleged abuses of the right to buy scheme is to be demanded by Scottish councils, the Scotsman reports (p6).

A meeting of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities housing committee yesterday agreed to urge changes in legislation so tenants who have bought their homes with the benefit of a discount are debarred from buying council houses with similar concessions on a second or further occasions.

A COSLA report to the committee said the convention had already raised the issue of unfair profit making in the past but ministers refused to agree changes.

The story is also carried by the Herald (p8).
