The Isle of Anglesey and Gwynedd CCs have started drawing up draft funding programmes for the next three years, reports the Western Mail (p12).

Gwynedd CC has received confirmation of European grant aid worth more than£500,000 which will go towards promoting local industries and the authority hopes to secure a further£1m of EU funding soon.

Leon Gibson, Anglesey's chief executive told the paper it was vitally important to look to the new millennium and beyond.

'We admit that things are not going to be easy because of the financial constraints forced on us by the Welsh Office but this programme means that we will be spending wisely and actively seeking grant aid for the people of Anglesey.'
