The chairman of Isle of Anglesey CC, Handel Morgan, said he had no intention of bowing to calls for his resignation from campaigners alleging corruption within the authority.
The Western Mail (p7) reports that the request was made to a special review committee established to independently consider non-disciplinary aspects of a district auditor's report which raised concern about the running of the authority.
The request came amid claims that Mr Morgan had misled the authority by saying that the council's ruling independent group had not intervened in the auditor's inquiry.
Mr Morgan was not at the meeting last night but issued a statement which stated: 'Councillor Morgan does not consider that he has in any way misled the authority or the people of Anglesey... He also has no intention of resigning as chairman of Anglesey County Council.'
