applications and services to Blyth Valley BC in an innovative
partnership arrangement that will speed the introduction of e-government in
the North East.
Under the contract, Anite will provide Blyth Valley with IT solutions as
managed services. The contract includes provision of systems for the
council's revenues, benefits, housing, payroll & personnel, direct work
force management and financial systems. E-government solutions will be
provided via web portals and back office staff will have the support of the
Anite@Work document imaging and workflow application across the authority.
Full services will start in April 2003 although initial work will begin
within days with Anite staff on site starting to plan the transition.
Blyth Valley Council chief executive Geoff Paul said, 'Anite were the only vendor to propose a partnership approach that fitted in with our current needs and gave us a path into the future. By providing the complete suite of applications as a managed
service Anite will help us to make cost savings in the use of IT for public
services while replacing legacy systems with new solutions better able to
support e-government. Front line staff will have solutions that help them to
deliver a better service to the publi.c'
As part of the solution Anite will work with Northumberland CC's
data centre as the application hosting environment for Blyth Valley BC. By
working with Northumberland CC, Anite believe that it will prove
easier to deliver the joined-up government initiatives that will span county
and district levels of local government. Anite will also work with Blyth
Valley BC in order to ensure that systems support the creation up of a new
housing company that is being established to enable greater investment in
the housing stock and the supporting services.
Applications provided will include the Pericles revenues and benefits system
acquired from ICL and now being enhanced, delivered and supported by Anite
as well as other software from the Anite portfolio. As part of the
partnership approach Anite will also provide Blyth Valley with an
'e-champion' who will work alongside the authority in order to help develop
the implementation strategies for their IEG statement. E-government support
for the authority will be provided using Anite's portal solutions and
customised web applications.
