The Independent (p10) profiles Doncaster election candidate Neil Swan, who is standing on an 'anti-sleaze' platform in the wake of the police investigation into prominent Doncaster MBC members.

Mr Swan's campaign expenses are being funded by a£7,000 grant from the Peoples' Trust, a fund created by a£2m donation from Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed.

A former councillor, Mr Swan said he hoped funds would be left over to support candidate campaigns in the 1998 local authority elections.
