Gordon DC appealed this week against a Scottish Office decision to outlaw sale and leaseback schemes.

A government circular published in December last year announced that any outstanding schemes had to be completed by the end of March.

But Gordon and the local enterprise trust were this week due to start building a £500,000 business centre in Thainstone for completion in July. Gordon chief executive Peter Donaldson said the scheme was now on hold.

'A considerable amount of money has been generated from the private and public sectors in getting it off the ground,' he said. 'A number of business start-ups were expecting to be able to move into the completed building'.
