Brighton & Hove City Council claims to be the first UK local authority to launch an iPhone application
Brighton & Hove City Council is claiming to be the first UK local authority to launch an iPhone application.
The council has launched a free real time bus time information app created by one its residents.
The Brighton & Hove Bus Real Time Infoboard app updates automatically to show live bus times across the city’s network.
Users can choose their nearest bus stop and get real-time live information sent directly to their iPhone.

Rick Thompson, creator, said “I live in the city and am always hopping on and off the bus. I’ve been quite impressed with the council’s real time display investments however thought an app would really help me out.
“Once the council team gave me the go ahead, it only took a couple of weeks work to sort out and I’m more than happy to share it with other iPhone fans.”
Geoffrey Theobald, Brighton & Hove’s cabinet member for the environment said: “Helping our residents travel easily around the city is a key commitment and this application will undoubtedly benefit the many iPhone users.
“It’s only fitting that, being one of the country’s foremost digital cities, we embrace all platforms and technology available.”
