The funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales will take place on Saturday, 6th September, at 11.00 a.m. at Westminster Abbey.

At the request of the families, the coffin of Diana, Princess of Wales will lie privately in the Chapel Royal, within St. James's Palace, before the funeral.

Her coffin will be carried in Procession from the Chapel Royal to Westminster Abbey on the morning of the funeral (see notes below for details).

Following the service at Westminster Abbey, the coffin of Diana, Princess of Wales will be taken by road to the Spencer family home at Althorp for private burial.

Family mourning will be observed by members of the Royal family and by their households up to and including the day of the funeral. (Those in uniform will wear mourning bands; those in civilian clothing will wear black ties and dark colours.)

Flags will be flown at half-mast up to and including the day of the funeral.

A Book of Condolence will be opened at 10.00 a.m. today at St. James's Palace. Those members of the public wishing to sign the Book are requested to approach St. James's Palace from Marlborough Road.
