Racial equality councils are unnecessary quangos that have no role, according to a researcher at the right-wing political think-tank, the Adam Smith Institute, reports the Yorkshire Post (p1).

The comments by former Conservative MP, Philip Holland come in the wake of the collapse of the West Yorkshire Racial Equality Council, which has cast doubt on the future of the other 86 local racial equality councils in the UK.
