A complaint by former Westminster City Council leader Shirley Porter over the conduct of the district auditor's investigation into alleged gerrymandering has been rejected by the Audit Commission.

The Financial Times reports (p8) that the decision removes a formal hurdle delaying publication of district auditor John Magill's final report.

It is expected to appear very close to the local government elections on May 2.
