The Audit Commission is set to crack down on council corruption in London, the Evening Standard reports (p22).

The move is part of a wider check on benefit fraud, says the paper, after the detection of racket involving nearly 750 staff at Lambeth LBC.

The fraud squad has advised councils how to combat corruption and London boroughs have set up a special fraud unit to combat the rackets, reports the paper.
