A complaint made by a councillor with Tendring DC in Essex about his own authority is to be investigated by the district auditor, the East Anglian Daily Times reports (p10)

Last month Roy Smith wrote letters to the Local Government Commission and the Prime Minister to complain about a campaign by the council supporting the formation of a unitary authority in the area.

The paper says the LGC, who expressed concern over the complaints, have now passed the issue over to the Audit Commission.
