The Manchester Evening News tonight covers the district auditor's report into Tameside MBC's links with what it says is a 'debt ridden' care company which runs 12 old people's homes in Tameside.

The auditor is reported as rapping Tameside for failing to properly monitor the financial running of Tameside Enterprises Ltd.

Controversial links between the council and the company which has debts of more than £2 billion were also criticised by the auditor, says the Manchester Evening News.

Tameside chief executive Mike Greenwood is reported as promising to make public an internal investigation into the way the company was run if TEL directors give the go ahead. He is also reported as saying that the setting up of the company saved the council more than £4 million.
