The Glasgow Herald (p9) reports a row between South and East Ayrshire councils about plans to switch pupils from a village school away from the secondary school to which they have traditionally progressed.

Dalrymple primary school is under the control of East Ayrshire since last April, but sends its senior pupils to the South Ayrshire run Carrick Academy in Maybole.

Now East Ayrshire is set, says the paper, to send this year's batch of primary pupils to Doon Academy in Dalmellington.

South Ayrshire councillors say they have not been kept fully informed and that the future of Carrick Academy could be threatened.
