A Scottish piper is emigrating to America after being warned by his council about noise pollution, the Times reports (3).

Gary Stronach, one of only 25 professional bagpipe teachers in Scotland, disturbed his Perth neighbours with his four-hour-a-day practice sessions. Two residents complained to Perth and Kinross Council.

A council spokesman said there were no rules about noise pollution. 'There is no difference between bagpipes and a ghetto-blaster', he said.

Mr Stronach is to give bagpipe lessons at a university in Virginia.
