Two teacher unions are holding strike ballots among members at a Tenby comprehensive after two teachers were identified as redundancy candidates.

Reported in the Western Mail (p1), the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers, and the National Union of Teachers will both ballot members.

One of the named teachers is the NASUWT secretary for Pembrokeshire, Glynnis Meredith. The result of the NASUWT ballot, which will include the majority of Greenhill Comprehensive teachers, is expected to support a strike.

The unions have attacked the school's decision to spend£50,000 in reserves on maintenance rather than teachers.
