Council planners will not allow many alterations to the original structure of the barns which architects want to convert, as a new generation of barn conversions which respect the agricultural roots of the original buildings filters on to the market, reported the Weekend Telegraph in a double page article (14 Oct, p20 and 21).

It is increasingly difficult to design successful places for people to live under the tight constraints imposed by local authorities, but at least the rest of us do not have to live with the failures, the Telegraph reported.
