The Western Mail (p8) reports that London barrister Christian Bevington will head a panel of four Cardiff CC officers to investigate allegations of abuse at the city's children's homes.

The appointment of a panel follows the announcement last September of a joint police and social services inquiry into allegations of child abuse into the former council run home Taff Vale.

Ms Bevington will be joined by legal services assistant director Stephanie King-Davies, personnel services assistant director Mike Heffernan, corporate complaints manager David Collins and Nigel Morgan of quality and customer services.

An interim report is expected in about a month, says Ms Bevington.
