Large-scale benefit fraudsters would be banned from driving under the new Fraud Bill, which is to be announced in the Queen's Speech on Wednesday, the Daily Telegraph reports (p10).

Driving bans, together with fines and the withdrawal of benefit, are being proposed in a bid to curb social security fraud, which is estimated to cost £3 billion a year.

Shadow social security spokesman Harriet Harman accused the government of 'looking for grand gestures which are more to grab a headline that to deal with the underlying problem'.
