Tim Eggar, Minister for Energy, on behalf of the President of the Board of Trade, has today refused to grant consent to Cory Environmental Ltd for the construction and operation of a 103 MW waste-to-energy generating station at Belvedere in Bexley LBC.

Mr Eggar has taken his decision in the light of the recommendations of the inquiry inspector and other matters which he considered relevant.

The inspector recommended that consent and planning permission be refused on the grounds that the application site was too small to accommodate the development and the increase in HGV traffic along Norman Road (the access to the site) would be detrimental to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists of that road.
