The three county councils most affected by the closure of the Point of Ayr colliery closure will lobby for additional European funding this week, reports The Western Mail (p9).

A delegation from Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham councils, together with representatives of the Coalfields Campaign, will travel to Brussels to persuade commissioner Monika Wulf Mathies to extend the Rechar programmer throughout north-east Wales.
