An NOP survey of marketing directors of leading national firms has backed the National Exhibition Centre as the best venue for the year-long Millennium Exhibition.

The Birmingham Post reports (p44) that the survey found the NEC got 59% support, against 20% for Greenwich, with five per cent respectively opting for Derby and Bromley by Bow in London.

Good transport, on-site facilities, hotels and accessibility were seen as the crucial requirements, the paper reports. Only 41% thought a London location was important, with 23% citing proximity to historic buildings.
