Birmingham City Council is in talks with the BBC about installation of a big TV screen, similar to that in Manchester.

The Manchester screen was originally installed for the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and now shows local events, sports and conventional programmes.

A spokewoman for Manchester City Council said the screen had not caused noise or crowd problems.

A Birmingham spokeswoman said there would be public consultation before any screen was erected.
