Councillors in Birmingham have warned that unless the track at the city's New Street station is redesigned, it will not be able to cope with expected passenger increases, the Birmingham Post reports (p3).

The council believe the upgrade is needed if they are to continue with their policy of getting people out of their cars and into public transport, the paper reports (p3).
