A disciplinary hearing starts today for Birmingham City Council's chief women's officer, The Birmingham Post reports (p3).

Nancy Johnson faces allegations about the distribution of grants for Birmingham's £100,000 Women's Festival, the subject of an investigation by the council's audit unit earlier this year.

A sub committee chaired by councillor Mick Rice will hear the complaints against Ms Johnson. But Tory councillors have criticised the selection of Mr Rice as chairman when he faces an audit unit investigation himself, The Birmingham Post reports.
