Bridgend CBC's construction unit was visited by police this week, and two employees were arrested, reports The Western Mail (p2).

The two employees have also been suspended by the council, which had been conducting an internal investigation into the unit since last October. The district auditor had also been informed of the investigation.

Bridgend chief executive Keri Lewis said the matter was now in the hands of Bridgend CID. The construction unit employs just over 200, and completes council house repairs and commercial work.
