Bristol City Council's Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is one of the best in the country having scored full marks in the latest National Mystery Shopper Campaign run by the English Tourist Board.

This annual survey is carried out by an anonymous professional independent shopper who visits each tourist information centre to assess facilities and quality of service.

This year's survey focused on access for disabled visitors to the centre, the staff's knowledge of access to attractions in the area and customer service.

The 100 per cent awarded to Bristol's TIC is way above the national average of 72 per cent and the regional average of 83 per cent.

Chair of Bristol's tourism forum, Pat Roberts said: 'The TIC is a very busy workplace, offering a huge range of services to visitors and residents alike; from accommodation bookings, events ticketing and National Express bookings to sales of books, maps guides and souvenirs.

'Our staff pride themselves on their customer care and this survey has recognised their hard work and commitment. They deserve all the credit and thanks for this wonderful result.'

The TIC is based in the unique surroundings of St Nicholas Church and is completely accessible to disabled visitors. People with mobility impairments can even hire wheelchairs through the TIC if required.
