Thames Valley police are to extend a successful scheme for dealing with young offenders, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.

The experimental scheme, which has been operating in Aylesbury, brings young offenders face to face with their victims and has reduced the reoffending rate among those involved to 4%, compared with the 35% national average reoffending rate.

Today reported that Thames Valley police now plan to introduce the scheme into the rest of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
