Wolverhampton Conservative MP Nicholas Budgen has come first in the ballot for private members bills, it was announced in Parliament today.

Second was Alan Beith, Lib Dem for Berwick upon Tweed and third was Kevin Barron, Lab, Rother Valley.

Others successful were: 4. David Lidington (Con Aylesbury); 5. Michael Jopling (Con Wesmorland and Lonsdale); 6. Peter Atkinson (Con Hexham); 7. Dr Roger Berry (Lab Kingswood); 8. Stanley Orme (Lab Salford East; 9. Nigel Spearing (Lab Newham South); and Alan Williams (Lab Swansea West).
