A Slough BC officer has written a handbook on bullying in the workplace.

Davinder Sandhu (pictured) received funding from the Millennium Awards to write the book which offers advice on how to deal with and confront bullying at work.

Miss Sandhu, who is basic skills co-ordinator with the authority's education department, said: 'This project came about as a result of my own experiences - within a year of starting work at a secondary school in London, I left because of the bullying behaviour of one individual.

'Having encouraged young people to stand up to bullies in the playground, I had to stand up to the office bully.

'Producing this handbook has helped me to turn my negative experience into a positive one, and I hope it will empower others to stand up to bullying behaviour.'

As part of her project, Miss Sandhu was invited to speak at the House of Lords in support of the Dignity at Work Act, which recognises that harassment and bullying in the workplace is unacceptable.

The handbook was launched nationally recently at the Mayor of London's office.

Miss Sandhu hopes that the handbook will be used in organisations through out the South East.
