Ministerial clarification is being sought over the controversial M62 relief road.

Roads minister John Watts is being urged to confirm - once and for all - that the scheme is dead and buried.

The call comes from Bury MBC's M62 relief road community steering group chairman Derek Boden and follows comments made in the recent newsletter of the Greater Manchester Transport Action Group.

It said that at the moment the government has only stated that the proposed road has been 'withdrawn'. They felt that this might mean the scheme could be reinstated at some time in the future.
