A series of performance targets to improve services for bus users have been announced by the government.

The targets were agreed with the Confederation of Passenger Transport, which represents most UK bus operators.

The confederation has committed its members to targets for improving reliability, increasing accessibility and improving passenger information at bus stops.

Transport minister John Spellar said the targets would help the government achieve its aim of increasing bus use by 10% by 2010.
