The Sunday Times carried a story (p1) suggesting that prime minister Tony Blair's much-anticipated ministerial reshuffle will take place in the next couple of weeks.

The changes will be limited to two or three people, with a more far-reaching reshuffle planned for later in the parliament.

Those tipped for promotion include Stephen Byers, the minister in charge of school standards, and minister without portfolio Peter Mandelson.

Transport minister Gavin Strang continues to be included in lists of ministers fearing demotion.
