Objectors to plans for a new airport near Doncaster are calling on the government to hold a public enquiry, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.
Doncaster MBC already given its approval for the redevelopment of the former RAF base Finningley as a commercial airport. Those in favour of the airport say it will create jobs and a public enquiry would cause delay, Today reported.
With plans for the redevelopment of a number of other former RAF bases around the country, new airports will be a controversial issue in many areas, Today said.
